Yesterday (Thursday, 18 August), Co-op served-up its newest store in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

The new, near 3,000 sq ft convenience store will open between 7am-10pm daily and operate as a franchise of the convenience retailer located in  St Mary’s Street, Ely.

Ely’s new Co-op includes customer car parking, Costa coffee machine, free ATM, in-store bakery and hot food alongside a focus on fresh; healthy products; meal ideas; Fairtrade products; food-to-go; award winning beers and wines; freezer fillers including Cook ready meals; F’real shakes; pizzas and, free-from; vegan and plant-based products – including Co-op’s exclusive vegan range, GRO.

Deliveroo home delivery is coming soon for added ease, speed and convenience.

A funding boost is provided locally through Co-op’s Membership programme. Membership of the Co-op unlocks additional value through in-store offers and promotions, and sees Members rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance – Co-op also donates the same amount to local community groups and organisations.

Students in Ely who are TOTUM cardholders – the new name for NUS extra – also receive a 10% discount off groceries at the Co-op.

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available to enable shoppers to recycle soft plastics such as crisp packets and pet food pouches.
