Trafford Centre and The Pokémon Company International have partnered for an exclusive new activation, ‘Pokémon: Art Through the Ages’. Taking place at Trafford Centre from 17 October until 13 November, this new treasure hunt style activity will allow visitors to discover hidden art of the 151 Kanto Pokémon.

Following an art-inspired reveal on 25 September, visitors to the centre will be able to partake in a range of activities including: an art hunt, Pikachu meet and greets, watching Pokémon animation, art classes, and for one day only, see the new Pokémon bus. This interactive activation allows consumers to enjoy a wide variety of artistic techniques and styles from across the ages, including cave paintings, stained-glass and oil paintings.

To support the activity, Trafford Centre has leveraged its relationship with Transport for Greater Manchester to activate Pokémon branding at tram stops enroute to the centre, running throughout the partnership. Supporting onsite activations through existing partnerships is an integral part of Trafford Centre’s strategy to develop creative and strategic associations.

Bruce Gardner, Brand Experience Director at Trafford Centre, said: “When initially sourcing a suitable location for this fantastic event, the Pokémon team were inspired by the iconic architecture that is unique to Trafford Centre. We have worked collaboratively with Pokémon, our partners such as Transport for Greater Manchester, Clear Channel and our Retailers to ensure Pokémon fans can escape the ordinary and experience a unique, memorable and fun-filled day out. On behalf of the centre, we’re delighted to welcome Pokémon.”

“We are thrilled to announce such a creative partnership with Trafford Centre,” said Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “Exploration is an element which is key to Pokémon, and we can’t wait for kids and families to embark on their own journey to complete the Kanto Pokédex and see Pokémon depicted in such unique art styles.”
